Not supergood casts I’d say, a bit of airbubbles on the ruins (doesn’t matter much on ruins though) and some of it has got quite A LOT of flash.

Elven basing kit parts is the round ones, uneven thickness and there’s a line about midway that makes me think they should have about half as thick as they are (some parts actually are). Not very impressed.
Though I love the looks of them and they’re ruins so I don’t mind much.
Would have been nice if they could have been a little thinner so they were a little more in line with the lip of the bases. Would have liked there to be a full round piece as well, you can technically cut pieces and puzzles them together to a round one but it would be too big to fit a 50mm base. Sucks.
Lovely design though.

Egyptian ruins and some skull rosettas. Both nice casts, no flash, tiny bit of bubbles on the skulls but nothing bad.

Shield are nice, I like the design, though they are a bit uneven in thickness. Might be a nuisance if you plan on using them for actual shields, I had more in mind of using them om bases as reliefs or broken shields and such.
Lots of flash on these as well.
The panels are nice, about the size of a cavalry base. They are a bit hard to remove from the sprue without breaking, I managed to break off a corner piece on one of mine. They’re quite bent as well, but I’m thinking some time in a warm bath will allow them to be bent back.

I used some of the elves ruin parts to make bases for my Gamezone eagles. I think they fit nicely with the models.

This one will be the crow, I think the beak is the only part I needed to remodel, the rest will pass for a crow if it’s got the right colors ;)

This one will be the magpie. I think longer tailfeathers will be a good counter balance to those forward outstretched wings. It doesn’t look very centered on the base as it is now.

I started out with the one wearing a goat.
I was planning to do these in NMN, but then about halfway through I changed my mind and painted it all over with metallics instead. I just think they’re more fun to work with.
I do like NMN, I admire how some can make it look so very lifelike. But I have always preferred really well painted metallics.

This I’ve been painting the last few days.
I found this base I really like so I had to buy it and I thought this mini was kinda suited for it. Monochrome colors with some orange to break it off. I think it turned out good :)

I’ve had a great birthday and a good christmas and way too much Skyrim, if that’s possible.

Feeling a bit fed up with christmas and all that comes with it now, my mum was hysterical as always, It’s good to be home in the quiet.

A little army update: finished up the two sparrows, one troll and got some work done on a few more of the trolls and the second wolf. I’ll do my best on the fusiliers this week I think, I should be able to get them all done if I can keep from very distracting dragons and caves full of treasures.
I’m trying out the batch-painting thing, I’m not good at it but trying. I’m already done with the green on their coats so I’m hopeful. All the tiny little details are so time-consuming though, pouches and knives and guns and all sorts of things.

The first wolf is all done! I think he turned out ok, been working a bit more on his colors than on the fusiliers since he’s a filler and I sorta felt he should be special. Other than being a giant wolf among the tiny little griffons.

I also feel like it’s time to paint my Changeling and the Masque. I have wanted to paint them since I got them but I’ve let them sit, figuring what colors should be and I feel like I’ve finally decided – every color!
I’m thinking I’m gonna have them both on the same base. Changeling on a cliff overlooking the scene and the Masque on ground level below. I’m gonna use the same blue color for both of them and then tone it out in some different colors.

And here they are, roughly in their right colors.

I’m feeling confident about this. Excited to see if it comes together like I hope it will or if I will have to start all over.

I got a couple of minis from Avatars of War as well,two elves. Was really disappointed with them though, they didn’t look nearly as good as their pictures.

The Darkelf Sorceress face is just plain horrible, it makes hear head look out of proportion somehow,  so I carved it off and glued a plastic deamonette face on her instead. She looks more presentable now. I wouldn’t even want to paint it with the original face.

Now, I just need to do something about the skirt.. I really don’t like that they made it solid, it looks cheap.
Apart from the face and skirt I like the sculpt, which is weird, the rest is so well sculpted so why not make a better effort with the skirt?

The High elf didn’t really match up to her picture either, the details are really bad :( shame cause she looked like a relly nice sculpt.

I doubt I’ll ever buy a mini from them again, I’d rather spend money on minis I know are of good quality.

I got a bunch of trolls for the army now, and so little time for it :) I’m gonna have to stop playing Skyrim and get to painting instead.

I have been doing some good though, I bought some Gamezone minis a few weeks ago, their vampire Mournful knights, some elves and a girl in a dress on a horse, and they’re all primed and I’m working on bases for some of them. Even started painting one of the vampires.
I should get back to painting army, lots to be done still :)
I have no work booked and nothing planned next weekend (hoping it stays that way) so I’m gonna try to get some of the army minis done. Hopefully 8 of them (I’ve started on all of them so they’re in various stages of completion) but realistically 1-2 ;)

I’ll give you a longer update tomorrow, I’m a bit too tired right now.

I have no doubt Skyrim will be my favourite in the series.

I was in the usual spot underneath the staircase, and I realized I forgot to bring a pair of gloves. i got a box of powdered nitrile gloves from work that I keep for this purpose, that and color my hair. they were a mistake-buy, too thin to use for tattooing, but putting them to use anyway, on important stuff.
rather than make the 2-second walk up the stairs and get some gloves I just spray painted my fingers :)
I prime all my minis individually, because well, I just paint, I don’t do whole heaps of armies so I feel I both can and should focus more on getting the primer on right. Besides army painter is kinda tricky, it’s easy to spray it on too thick and then its crap. GW primer by the way, worst I ever tried, so thin it just kinda pooled up in the recesses, and I shook it long enough about I think. Lasted like 5 figs to that.
I’m never leaving my AP again :(

Tomorrow I’m going downtown to get some tattoos, you know, some tentacles, because I can’t have less than the King, and I’m the one covering him up in slithering arms of various seacreatures and whatnot (what was I thinking?).
I should really get to bed. It’s Important you get enough rest if you’re getting tattooed,
I just have to play a little Hero quest first.
